I love understatement. An artist who can afford to spend 20 million quid to buy real teeth to put back into a garish platinum skull studded with diamonds is "pretty sucessful"............ Damien Hirst

he earned his money and free to do what we wants. if you like to discuss his work, talk about work, not money. if you like do discuss how to earn money from yr work, it`s topic for that.

there are very, very few artists that have achieved Hirst`s financial success...he is a Walmart version of Jeff Koons.....my original statistic is somewhat correct......you have better odds at winning the lottery....but i am one of the few artists who believes that art can be a financial enterprise...for me atleast

Indian artists are also doing well, I heard Bose bought a property for 8 cr. And Manish Pushkale has a better house that the one i have in the same area. Jitish lives in the same building as Amir Khan. and last year Jogen made over 15 cr.

I`ve got plenty of original art on my walls, most of which I wouldn`t part with except for ridiculous ammounts of money and then I`d get some top quality photos of it and use the cash to make more art or buy something else. Like most of the people here I can`t afford to buy everything I want, poor career choice being an artist financially. How much do you possess or want? I go to galleries whenever possible, I see those people looking but we all know that most of them haven`t a clue and it`s something that the middle class do, if all those people looking bought current artists output then we would all be a lot happier. Look in magazine interior photos, think of the people you know who aren`t artists and tell me how much original and current art you see.

Jogens quality has gone down. he made 86 paintings for his last exhibition in delhi. Has he gone mad. He should have made 20 good crosshatch works and would have made a bigger and better impact and commanded a better market.
