One could say souza painted lke picasso and got his images from there.

By : Shibani

YUE MINJUN - Farhad Hussain
This is shit. Farhad is a great eg of someone who is not thinking but just making something that is doing well in china.

By : ramg

well I just checked out this artist Farhad Husain, and yes he is kind of similar to YUE MINJUN. But are we thinking about art or what is selling. He is being pushed by the right galleries and thus I think he could do well

By : hinduja

common farhrad ... its not somthing i would get into.

By : ramg

Krishnamachri Bose- Howard Hodgkin,Jerard Richter and god knows how many others.

Sudarshan Shetty- Jeff Koons, ....

In fact most of our contemporary youngsters are copy masters. One can tally their works images to image. Just go through ARTNOW Volume I and II, ART TODAY, ICE CREAM, FRESH CREAM, VITAMIN-P, and most recent ART FORUMS.

I think the Riyas Komu paints works similar to that of ZHANG XIAOGANG an artist from china.

By : Shibani

well Riyas Komus works are also similar to early works by gerad richter. its funny.

By : ashwin_u

Atul Dodiya`s early works are similar to those by David Hockney

By : Jal

do artist care that in order to make a mark in the long run they need to paint something that is totally their own images and not just copy. when international galleries come to india these artists will truly understand and shall hold no standing in the art world

By : james

this is a great topic. and has shown a lot to me

By : ramg

would you say jitish kallat works are similar to wang guang yi

By : Shibani

this is wrong. It is not correct to say that these artists copy any artist. they might get some idea from these artists. but they are not making the same paintings. many artists get source from some where, in fact every creative person gets his or her idea from some where. but it is then how they take it forward that really counts and our indian artists have done a great job

By : Jal

I agree.. i love bose`s work. and I have several paintings by jitish. I think they are great

By : james

hey, this topic is not about what do you love or who`s work do you have.

By : shmore

tushar joag copies liechtenstein

By : james

sharmi chowdhury copy Bhupen khakkar

By : anasuya

of course, If you have enought knowlegde you always can see similar painters for any artist. I am a spanish collector, and indian art is new for me - I feel that Farhad is fantastic and authentyc.

Artists from all over the globe know one thing that they have to express. We are prowd that in India we have so much of culture exist that we do not need to look more outwardly towards any other world to compare. We are rich in aesthetics, design, drawing, composition, perspective, theory, history and talent. The thing that lacks in us is the competiveness to search and show more and more visuals through our work, that can also be termed as the professionalism to work within our own vast unlimited store of culture.
