well from the very start indian art has been big in bombay. and bombay was and is the money bank of india. so from the 1950`s most buyers have been from bombay. it has always been the cultural hub for the arts and buyers are more interested in taking interest in such arts as compared to other cities. that is the reason most big artists come from bombay. now it is not necessary for an artist to live in bombay to make it big but exhibiting in bombay is necessary.
