Debate Topic

As an artist i get my inspiration from my thoughts. What ever comes into my mind and I like to put it down I start by putting it in my little drawing book full of my ideas and then i mix and match what I like and put it on canvas. I know every one is inspired by something. Movies, Books, TV, Or other paintings.. Are there a lot of artists who get their images from others works??

This is a very good question. My thoughts on this is that inspiration cant only come from one source. It is how much one has lived and how much they have seen or what they have seen. Some are touched by many different ideas and others have just one idea that has touched them so deep that all their paintings are around that thought. Others have felt pain / joy / suffering / hunger / or just have seen things others havnt, that that results in cerative work. and has inspired them. Something only people with an open mind can understand.

Sure there are a lot of artists inspired by other artists and seem to do similar works but every artists should have their own new touch to a painting that makes it their work or thought. I dont see anything wrong in being inspired, it helps the soul and if it can help in getting one somewhere they want to go, there is nothing worng with that. Almost every artist gets inspired by some one at the start. The Indian Master Souza was inspired by Picasso and so was Husain. And look where they are today one of the finest painters in the world.

Artists can get their inspiration from what ever they like. But I like art about life and something meaningful and not a decorative work. Life is art and art should be life. Some people just make art to question life the way they know how. Now thats art

In our everyday life we experience a lot of things that touch a cord within us. In leisure, our subconscious mind reflects what its seen n reacts to it. It maybe a dream we hav seen. And the expression of this feeling comes spontaneously later. Inspiration can come from anything a device, a feeling something to do some specific person in your life. wat inspires a artist depends on the personality n his life experiences. More are the no. of artist. hence multiple inspirations, nature, geometry, sciences. hence the different genre n styles.
one example,
Andy Warhol. inspired by the soup cans, which people toss into dust bins.

the stone age man also did cave paintings. sometimes they depicted hunting scene. This is to capture the animal. like an occult way to trap the animal. Dat was there inspiration.
Wat inspires me, is cheap papers, bubblegum wrappers, folk tales of India, n kids books.

This is truly a very good question. What makes the painter make the image he is thinking about gives the importance to the work.

Something truly to be spoken about to become a good artist.

something that others can relate to.

Any artists would like to answer this in more detail?

Well there are many things that could make me think. I would not mention on this site.

Funny what can inspire you into making art. I put the rubbish out this morning, and sitting by some other black rubbish sacks was four 2" x 1" pieces of wood, clean as heck. They would make a great wooden stretcher I thought, so I had em.
