Debate Topic

Any artists should be allowed to paint what ever he/ she likes. This freedom is the most important sign of expression. Critics have the right to analyse and voice their opinion about the works but in this day and age, no artist should have to worry about their life because of a painting they painted. This is in reference to M F Husain, who had painted a work of Bharat Mata, and was threatened by people that they would cut of his hands and even kill him. Now one of the greatest painters has left India. And the funny thing is that Bharat Mata is not even a God in any TEXT.

HUSAIN JUST CREATED HIS WORKS,ONE CAN PRAISE,ONE CAN CRITICIZE BUT ITS FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AFTER ALL, THREATHENING LIFE & SUCH PERPLEXING STATMENTS CANNOT BE ENTERTAINED...!!!

“What is freedom of expression?
Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist”

- Salman Rushdie

People need to understand the importance of artistic freedom. For without it art is dead. The media needs to play a better role in pointing these facts to the public and educating them on their importance. One cannot be Naive in this day and age.

imagine, v start painting taking into consideration sentiments of all kinds of people n their different kinds of sensitivity. Artist will paint like a fugitive, will hav to make a guideline chart or maybe a flowchart that tells u to stop immediately wen somebody`s heart burns.
Then v will hav rules, by the court. Saraswti has to be painted in the following manner. chin raised quarter inch. hands, angles suggested.
i tell one thing. again, resources Salman Rushdie.
If u dont like a book simply shut it n take the next one. or give ur better version of it!

All this is part of Husains marketing. It is a way to get attention. What he did is wrong.

Artist do not paint for quick fame. Or there are other options like bollywood, politics n kaun banega crorepati.

if they earn loads of money especially the older ones like MF then money factor came as an by-product they didn`t aim for it. Wen M f hussain painted in street lights years ago it was not for a jackpot but for his higher needs n strivings in life.

Money followed them they didn`t follow money.

Those do follow money r fakes, n they know it in their hearts nobody needs to tell them dis.

True artist is true to art, n true to self. Artist didn`t make their works into market but buyers did.

An intelligent artist today looks for is a sound source of income, so that he continues his devotion, in one corner of world. Doesn`t likes to be disturbed then.

Doesn`t like anybody squeeze his freedom. But once outside he gets back to his money earning session.
I know some good artist who do this to survive in this changing world. N dey r devoted to their art. And see to it that they hav their

One depends upon externals (situations, possessions, relationships) for
release. If externals are not favourable, I fret. If they are favourable, I am
happy. Questioning this dependence is the first and last step towards
unbound freedom.
I am always depending upon the outer, upon others to relieve me.
Can one see that mind is programmed?

We are happy in finding solutions to our problems. There seems to be no end. This is a trap in which the human mind is caught. When you understand that you are in a cage, the cage explodes open. Compulsions drop, freedom dawns.

There is a problem. People want to see something that they expect to see. When they see something they do not expect they are shocked. Indian art could have a mind block and people would like to make stuff that sell. Not try to make something new and when someone makes something new they are many who shall put it down

We dont want to see the truth. common, Husain was just painting to grab attention and the more we talk about it, the more the people give him attention the more this whole thing is good for him. We are just helping him be on the news. It is so stupid. only if we let artists be and not give them attention on such small things the less all these things shall be regarded as issues.

freedom is important but breaking the rules is more fun. I like people who break the rules.
