Jamal Ahmed was born in 1955 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and got M.F.A. degree from Tsukoba University, Japan. His education also includes training in Poland, research in oil painting in Japan, a Japanese language course from the Osaka University of Foreign Language, Japan. He is presently an Associate Professor of the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was a visiting teacher in the Art and Design Department at the North Carolina State University and Visiting Artist in Residence, U.S.A. He has had 41 solo exhibitions both in Japan and U.S.A.
